CASE MANAGEMENT

The underlying thread of all Travelers Aid programs is the in-depth Case Management provided to each client. This holistic approach is designed to stabilize and empower individuals & families to become self-sufficient.

Through our unique, comprehensive and collaborative assessment process we can accurately determine the services necessary for each client's revitalization. Travelers Aid programs are then intergrated with the combined resources of other partnering agencies who are networked together to ensure the long-term motivation needed during the client's struggle to become independent.

Our case managers can meet with clients at our central service center, at auxilliary sites around town, in their homes or at shelters.

Travelers Aid introduced the concept of long-term case management for the homeless in the Detroit area.  The typical commitment to a client lasts 12 months and can go on as long as two years or more.

We do not simply bandage a crisis without attempting to treat the specific causes that may have brought it on. We work directly with each client to find the most effective solutions for their unique circumstances.

In 1992, Travelers Aid helped create the first full-service, multi-agency collaboration, a Continuum of Care, by combining the strengths of many human service agencies.  The partnership seeks to catch those who may otherwise slip through the cracks while providing for the most thorough of services to help rebuild lives.

Travelers Aid operates an internal educational and training service. Travelers Aid Training and Employment  / TATE provides individual testing assessments and can help develop the interpersonal skills, work place skills and computer training for those participants seeking job readiness and employment placement.

Travelers Aid has also developed an economical and efficient transitional housing program in cooperation with private landlords.  The agency strives to find solutions that benefit the clients and the community simultaneously.

Travelers Aid presently operates a variety of subsidized housing programs designed to decrease homelessness for those suffering from chronic substance abuse histories and mental illness.
